A Football Life Dedicated to Indonesia

Born in Chile on October 3, 1966, Nelson León Sánchez enjoyed a professional playing career that took him across Paraguay, Chile, Greece, and eventually Indonesia, a country that would become his second home.

As a forward, León Sánchez represented clubs including Guaraní, Libertad, Tembetary, Magallanes, Deportes La Serena, Persma Manado, Arema Malang, Persema Malang, and PSMS Medan before retiring from professional football in 2000.

Experience from the Professional Game

Following his playing career, León Sánchez continued to contribute to football as a player representative and later as a coach.

In 2019, he became Head Coach of Persiba Bantul in Indonesia’s Liga 3 before later leading PSGJ Cirebon, continuing his work within the Indonesian football system.

His extensive understanding of Indonesian football, combined with decades of international experience, has made him a valuable leader for Indonesia’s national football 7 program.
