IFA7 strengthens its international structure with the formal recognition of Ghana as an official national affiliate for FOOTBALL 7
Calgary, Alberta, Canada – August 31, 2026 — The International Football Association (IFA7) is pleased to announce another important step in the continued international development of FOOTBALL 7, following the formal presentation of national recognition to 7V7 Football Federation LBG (IFA7 Ghana).
Representatives of IFA7 Ghana traveled to Calgary, Canada, for an official institutional meeting with the leadership of the International Football Association, further consolidating Ghana’s position within the international IFA7 structure.
During the meeting, Mr. Sampson Osei-Yaw, representing IFA7 Ghana, formally received the organization’s Certificate of Exclusive National Recognition from IFA7 President Daniel Balcorta.
The recognition establishes 7V7 Football Federation LBG (IFA7 Ghana) as IFA7’s recognized national affiliate and authorized representative for the development, organization and promotion of officially sanctioned IFA7 FOOTBALL 7 activities within the Republic of Ghana, subject to the IFA7 Statutes, regulations and official affiliation framework.
A new chapter for FOOTBALL 7 in Ghana
The Calgary meeting went beyond the formal presentation of the certificate.
Discussions focused on the development of a sustainable national FOOTBALL 7 structure in Ghana, including domestic competitions, national-team development, international participation, institutional growth and future commercial and sponsorship opportunities.
IFA7 and its Ghanaian representatives also discussed the country’s integration into IFA7’s growing international competition structure and the opportunities available to Ghanaian players, clubs, coaches, referees and administrators.
IFA7 President Daniel Balcorta welcomed the commitment demonstrated by the Ghanaian delegation:
“The recognition of IFA7 Ghana is about much more than presenting a certificate. It is about establishing a serious national structure capable of creating opportunities for players, clubs and communities throughout Ghana while connecting them directly with the international FOOTBALL 7 movement.
Their decision to travel to Calgary demonstrates their commitment to this project, and we look forward to building something significant together.”
Ghana preparing for the international stage
An important part of the discussions centered on Ghana’s future participation in IFA7 international competitions.
IFA7 Ghana is expected to begin developing its national sporting structure with the objective of establishing a competitive Ghanaian presence at international FOOTBALL 7 events.
Particular attention was given to the upcoming IFA7 NATIONS CUP™ – Indonesia 2026, scheduled for November 30 to December 6, 2026, where national teams from different parts of the world will come together for one of IFA7’s major international competitions.
The pathway provides Ghana with an opportunity not only to compete internationally, but also to showcase Ghanaian FOOTBALL 7 talent to a global audience.
Strengthening IFA7’s presence in Africa
Ghana’s formal recognition represents another important development in IFA7’s strategy of building strong and directly accountable national organizations throughout Africa.
IFA7’s international model is centered on empowering recognized national affiliates to develop FOOTBALL 7 domestically while maintaining common international standards for governance, competitions, officiating, player development, branding and international representation.
Through this structure, national organizations retain the ability to develop programs suited to their respective countries while gaining access to IFA7’s international competitions, institutional network, development programs and global FOOTBALL 7 platform.
From Calgary to Ghana
The official meeting in Calgary marks the beginning of the next operational phase for IFA7 Ghana.
The priority now turns toward building the national structure, expanding participation, developing competitions and establishing relationships with clubs, players, sponsors and other stakeholders interested in the growth of FOOTBALL 7 throughout Ghana.
IFA7 will continue working directly with its Ghanaian representatives as these programs are implemented.
