International Football Association (IFA7) is proud to officially welcome Indonesia as its newest Member Association, marking another significant milestone in the global expansion of Football 7.
The affiliation establishes the foundation for the official development, governance, and promotion of Football 7 throughout Indonesia under the worldwide standards and regulations of IFA7.
Leadership with International Experience
The Indonesian project will be led by Nelson Hernan Leon Sanchez, President of the newly affiliated organization and a former professional football player whose experience both on and off the field brings valuable leadership to the continued growth of Football 7 in the region.
Nelson also demonstrated Indonesia’s competitive potential on the international stage by leading the national team to an outstanding runner-up finish at the IFA7 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™ Honduras 2026, where Indonesia earned Second Place after an impressive tournament against some of the world’s strongest Football 7 nations.
That remarkable achievement reflects the country’s commitment, talent, and vision for the future of the sport.
Building the Future of Football 7 in Indonesia
Through this affiliation, Indonesia becomes the officially recognized organization responsible for developing Football 7 across the country, including:
- Establishing national, regional, and local competitions.
- Developing youth and grassroots Football 7 programs.
- Organizing coaching, referee, and technical education initiatives.
- Selecting and managing Indonesia’s official national teams.
- Representing Indonesia at official IFA7 international competitions.
- Creating strategic partnerships with clubs, educational institutions, government agencies, and the private sector.
Looking Ahead
Indonesia will now begin implementing its national development strategy while preparing for future international competitions under the IFA7 banner.
One of the next major milestones on the international calendar will be the IFA7 Nations Cup™, scheduled for November 30 through December 6, 2026, where national teams from around the world will once again compete under the official rules and standards of the International Football Association.
